The best part about Autumn?
A bold lip of course! Oh and pumpkins. And pumpkin spice. And pumpkin pie. No, apple pie. Sweater weather!
Okay so there are a lot of things to get excited about when the leaves start to fall, but I think we can all agree that makeup-wise, a bold lip is one of the more thrilling aspects of the season. I know I always look forward to wearing super pigmented colours without having to worry about excess summer sweat causing them to schmear down my face.
In addition to a bold lip, I love blush tones.
Blush tones tend to wear really well in Autumn. I picked up this blouse from Aritzia in the colour Canyon Rose – how lovely is that? It’s incredibly soft and has a chic little tie in the front. In order to let the lip colour stand out, I kept the outfit pretty simple, opting for black jeans and a casual heel.
So let’s get to it – in no particular order, here are my 5 favourite bold lip colours for the fall season.
1.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick “Craft” – This is a bright, sangria colour great for everyday wear, day or night. It’s incredibly long lasting and durable. Sometimes I like to mix it with another colour like Milkshake for a more muted effect.
2.) NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil “Cruella” – You could build an entire Halloween costume around this one! This has got to be one of the best lip pencils available; it is amazingly creamy and applies even more smoothly than most matte lipsticks. The colour is a gorgeous scarlet red (my favourite) and has great staying power.
3.) Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint “Slay” – This glistening, orchid purple colour stays true to its name and is perfect for a night out. Keep it close for reapplication.
4.) L’Oréal Colour Riche Matte Lip Red 402 “Blake’s Red” – Yes, as in Blake Lively (which, if I’m being honest, is partially why I bought it). If you’re looking for a budget friendly lipstick, this is the perfect creamy matte colour that’s texture is comfortable enough to wear to the pumpkin patch.
5.) NARS Audacious Lipstick “Anna” – Okay so this one is not so bold, but it’s my favourite. I wear it so often. It goes with absolutely everything and while I wear it all year round, it’s a lovely smokey rose colour that’s ideal for autumn – remember those blush tones I was talking about?
So there you have it – my favourite bold lip colours for the season. What will you be wearing?
